de-forestation they are an endangered species, there are only
around 20000 Orang-Utan's left in the world.

International - The mission of the Orangutan Foundation
International (OFI) is to support the conservation and
understanding of the orangutan and its rain forest habitat
while caring for ex-captive individuals as they make their way
back to the forest. Furthermore, OFI promotes the
dissemination of information about the orangutan and its
plight in order to galvanize the public and policy-makers
towards an appreciation of the ape's value and current dilemma
so that it might be saved from extinction.

Great Ape Project - The Great Ape Project is an idea, a
book, and an organization. The idea is radical but simple: to
include the non-human great apes within the community of
equals by granting them the basic moral and legal protection
that only human beings currently enjoy. The book, which is the
collective work of a group of scientists and scholars, is a
multifaceted argument against the unthinking denial of
fundamental rights to beings who are not members of our own
species, but who quite evidently possess many of the
characteristics that we consider morally important.

almost exclusively in lowland rainforest areas.
